The transfer - example 2
You use an FTP application to update your website. You already use an internet address (domain) and e-mail addresses with this domain. E-Mails are professinal and highly critical (must be available at all times).
During the transfer of a domain with a lot of e-mail traffic special caution is required. If the moving is done in a wrong order, e-mails could get lost.
1. You order the web hosting package on our website. Add a note that this domain is active and is using e-mail addresses. Also note that the domain should be transferred to Nova Hosting. (Customer)
2. You receive the credentials to your new web hosting account on our servers. Log in to our Hosting-Manager (Confixx). Create all e-mail addresses which you already use - don't forget to also create the mailboxes to define where the e-mails for each e-mail address should be saved. (Customer)
3. Connect with your FTP program to your old server and download the website on your local harddisk (if not already done). Now connect to our server by using the credentials received by e-mail to upload the website on our servers. (Customer)
4. Log in at your old web hoster and create for each e-mail address a forward where you use the mailbox names which you created in point 2 (Customer)
5. Now we add your domain into our name servers and enter a special DNS entry which is still using your old mail server (e.g. if you download your e-mails from pop.yourdomain.com). (Nova Hosting)
6. At your current domain registrar you enter our the name servers for your domain: ns1.novacompany.ch and ns2.novacompany.ch . (Customer)
7. From now on new e-mails will be received by our servers. Even if an Internet Service Provider (ISP, like Swisscom, AT&T, ...) didn't refresh their own DNS-Caches, the e-mails will be forwarded from your old web host to the mailboxes on your new account (because you've creatd the forwarding in point 4).
