About Nova Hosting

You have a right to know where and how your website is presented globally in the Internet. On this page you can learn additional information about our servers, their connections and technical settings.

Data center


Our servers are physically in a modern high-performance datacenter near Nuremberg, Germany which is directly connected to the biggest and fastest German (and therefore international) internet hops (e.g. DE-CIX). The multiple connections of internet lines, with a total of 192 Gbit/s, offer a high redundancy and therefore a high safety in case of conection failure. Modern security systems grant access to approved personal only and all servers are protected against power outage by using a ups (uninterruptible power supply).

Server equipment

To present the websites and e-mails of our clients in high speed and to handle all the web-traffic we use multi-core processors in all of our servers. At least 4GB of memory allows us to run different services and tasks at the same time. We are proud to use Linux in our servers - currently we use Debian Lenny 64bit as operating system.

Example configuration of one of our servers:

» Physical memory: 4GB DDR2 RAM
» Max. network speed: 1Gbit/s
The configuration between the servers can vary.

Used server software

	Some content management systems (CMS) like Joomla!, Drupal, Wordpress or e109 to name some, have software requirements which have to be installed on the web server. With the following information you can compare these requirements with our installed softwares: »Operating System: Linux x86_64 »Webserver: Apache 2.2.x »Webserver-Modules: mod_auth, mod_cgi, mod_include, mod_php, mod_rewrite (auf Anfrage), mod_ssl » PHP: 5.2.17(with Zend Optimizer, ionCube Loader, eAccelerator) »Database: MySQL 5.0.x

Monitoring

High availability is not just a magical word, one needs to earn it. All servers and services must be checked for their availability all the time, every day - this is called monitoring. In case of a problem our team is informed within only a few minutes.
Our monitoring-server is running in an external datacenter. Therefore all checks are done using the internet, like our customers do. We use Nagios as monitoring-software, some of the plugins are programmed and trimmed by ourselves.
The live and archived availability statistics are also created by our monitoring-server.
